We would like to thank Dr. Mateja Logar, MD, Infectologist, Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Fever, SPOBO, UKC Ljubljana, for her review of the guidelines.
Proper handling of protective masks:
- Before putting on a mask, we wash and disinfect our hands
- The mask must not be touched with fingers/hands
- Fit the mask by looping it behind the ear or by tying the straps below and above the ear, without the straps crossing
- The mask should be worn so that it covers the nose, mouth and chin, and should fit the face as tightly as possible
- Adjust the nose clip by squeezing it to the shape of your nose, so that the mask fits your face as tightly as possible and thus seals better
- the mask should not be hung around the neck or pulled up to the forehead during or after use
- Do not touch the mask during use, and if you do touch it, wash or disinfect your hands after touching it
- Wash or sanitise your hands before removing the mask
- Wash or disinfect your hands again after removing the mask
- Do no reinstall a used and removed mask (unless it is intended for repeated use, following the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning and disinfection)
- If the mask is needed again, use a new mask or a disinfected reusable mask. if the mask is needed again, use a new mask or a disinfected reusable mask
