FFP Masks: Testing and Certification

In our lab we ensure fast and reliable testing in accordance with EN149:2001+A1:2009. All tests are performed in brand new laboratory equipped with modern testing machines. Our lab has a very long tradition in the field of testing various materials, especially for the automotive industry.FFP refers to Particle filtering face pieces which can be divided in three classes: FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3. These masks are classified as personal protective equipment and are described in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Regulation (EU) 2016/425, category III. For the category III conformity assessment shall be done with the manufacturer application to a Notified body for type examination (module B) and supervised product checks at random intervals (module C2) or quality assurance of the product process (module C2). The abbreviation R or NR is added after FFP1, FFP2, FFP3 and refers to Reusable or Non-Reusable. All required test methods are listed and described in the harmonized standard EN 149:2001+A1:2009. Type examination certificate is an important part of CE marking. When FFP mask is complied with requirements of PPE Regulation and harmonized standard tests are passed, then manufacturer is allowed to mark the masks with CE mark and legally sell them on EU market.
