30 years of family business
21. 04. 2021
This year, the LOTRIČ Metrology Group is celebrating 30 years of its existence. Over the years, it has grown from a craft business for calibrating scales, weights and pipettes into an internationally renowned group, which brings together over 170 metrology experts employed in 10 companies in 7 different countries. In this last year, which has been marked by the pandemic, the company has focused on new business opportunities: the development of the first Slovenian respirator, CO2 measurements in Slovenian schools and testing of protective masks. As a company with a vision to become a family-owned multinational enterprise, we have also committed ourselves to achieving zero environmental impact by 2031 through the use of circular economy.
To that effect, we organised a press conference in the company.
LOTRIČ Metrology recorded a 13% growth last year, and 8 new employees joined the team. We will continue with the positive trend in 2021, with 7% growth in the first quarter. The latter can be attributed to the long-term orientation of the company; since 2015, we have been focused on the development of our own metrological products and customer-tailored solutions that enable increasing automation of production and business processes. In this regard, mention should be made of the EXACTUM measuring system for automatic monitoring of environmental parameters and TRAMES dedicated customer-tailored measuring systems for initial, interim and final product control.
“Since the very beginnings of our company, we have been aware that progress is not reserved for those who want to do everything themselves, but for those who are able and willing to connect. It is not just growth that counts in the market, but the speed of development as well. We realise that as a company we have succeeded only with the support of the environment in which we grew. That is why we feel obligated to give back to it,” said Marko Lotrič, the founder and CEO of the company, at today’s media event.
In the last year, LOTRIČ Metrology started developing products and metrology solutions in response to the current social situation. In addition to the development of the DIHAM medical respirator, it is also worth mentioning the establishment of a laboratory for testing medical masks. The latter was entered into the Nando database yesterday, making us a notified certification body. Our latest project focuses on the measurement of indoor CO2 level, which is one of the main indicators of air quality. In accordance with the recommendations for room ventilation issued by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), buildings with no mechanical ventilation systems should be equipped with CO2 sensors. In March, we installed the EXACTUM system free of charge in a branch school in Selca. It enables teachers to see real-time measurements and thus ventilate the rooms more efficiently.
Circular economy for zero environmental impact
“Our company’s environmental impact is becoming increasingly more important than financial results. It is not a choice but a necessity. It is important that the zero environmental impact is translated from strategy to our daily operations,” said Maja Brelih Lotrič, co-owner and head of the sustainable strategy project in the company.
At LOTRIČ Metrology, we have defined sources of carbon footprint, which we reduce by restructuring business processes. We do not yet have all the answers, but we will certainly rely on the company’s sustainable strategy throughout the process and place great emphasis on the digitisation process. By the end of the year, we will modernise the vehicle fleet; for deliveries in cities, especially, we will use an electric vehicle. We will install 3 charging stations for electric cars by this summer and build a solar power plant within two years. In addition, we will calculate our carbon footprint annually and financially support projects dedicated to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2031 in order to neutralise the company’s carbon footprint and thus achieve zero environmental impact.
